‘OutReach
EuroAfrica’ Event Cancelled Despite
going to great lengths to validate the level of interest
and potential attendance at the IBDA OutReach events
in 2013, it now appears that there is an insufficient
level of interest to stage the OutReach EuroAfrica this
year.
Our validation exercise (directly after the 2nd IBDC
in 2012) resulted in over 30 expressions of interest.
This was considered to be a sufficient number to launch
the programme. Now, the actual number of registrants
for OutReach EuroAfrica is much less, making the event
non-viable. To avoid a significant investment in time
by IBDA Partners and considerable financial risk to
the IBDA, we are cancelling the event.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused
by our decision, but we are confident that you will
understand it.
Launch
of 2013 IBDA OutReach Programme
Dear
IBDA Member
Planning is underway for the
2013 series of OutReach Designer Seminars as follows:
‘OutReach EuroAfrica’ |
The first seminar,
‘OutReach EuroAfrica’
is planned for 8 and
9 April 2013 and will take place in Fez,
Morocco. We aim to welcome 40 designers from the
European and African continents over the 2 day event. |
‘OutReach
Asia’ |
The second seminar
‘OutReach Asia’
is planned for late July
or early August 2013 and will take place
in Hong Kong or Singapore. This destination will
enable most Asian designers travel to the seminar
venue in less than 5 hours. We aim to welcome approximately
40 designers from the Asia Pacific region over the
2 day event. |
‘OutReach
Americas’ |
The third seminar,
‘OutReach Americas’
is being planned for October/November
2013 and will take place in Miami, Florida,
USA. We believe this destination will facilitate
easy direct travel from North and Latin America
and the OutReach venue will be close to the airport
to avoid time lost in transit. We aim to welcome
35 banknote designers from the Americas over the
2 day event. |
The OutReach Designer Seminars are
our way of keeping designers up to date on technology,
developments, risks and new features, substrates and
processes. They differ significantly from the International
Banknote Designers Conference (IBDC) in that the subject
matter is very focused, with small groups of about 10-12
designers receiving hands-on training and information
in a practical and efficient manner. These seminars
can be considered training courses on specific topics
and will ensure that our members are fully aware of
progress and evolution in banknote design and related
issues.
OutReach Designer Seminars consist
of a two-day programme allowing designers select up
to four seminars per day. Each seminar will last approximately
1.5 hours. The OutReach Programme content will be developed
by the IBDA in association with the IBDA Partners. The
actual seminars will be delivered by technical experts
from IBDA Partner organisations.
